OPEX introduces Infinity ASRS at MODEX

OPEX unveiled its Infinity automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) at MODEX 2022 this week. Infinity joins OPEX’s two other robotic systems, Sure Sort, a sorting system, and Perfect Pick, a goods-to-person picking robot.

Infinity uses OPEX’s iBOT robot vehicles that travel along a modular racking design. The robot delivers totes to decoupled presentation ports. The system’s modular racks and iBOTs means it’s easy to scale by adding more modules and robots.

The iBOTs are able to handle up to 70 lbs at a time. They also recharge with their ultra-capacitors as they navigate the system, meaning the robots never need to be removed to recharge.

“Our focus is on engineering exciting new solutions that address unmet and evolving customer needs,” Alex Stevens, president at OPEX Warehouse Automation, said. “The Infinity solution represents the next generation of goods-to-person technology to perfectly complement our existing Warehouse Automation product line.”

Infinity was designed to be used for micro-fulfillment, omni-channel distribution, store replenishment and e-commerce.

“Ecommerce is growing exponentially,” Stevens said. “Companies today need dependable yet advanced technology, the resiliency to meet shifting and seasonal demands, fast and accurate fulfillment, the ability to maximize space, and a partner they can trust. OPEX and the Infinity solution deliver all of this and more.”

The ASRS runs on OPEX’s Cortex software platform. The platform manages the picking and inventory aspects of distribution centers.

OPEX was founded in 1973, and has decades of experience in warehouse automation. It’s headquartered in Moorestown, New Jersey. It also has offices in Texas, France, Germany, Switzerland, the UK and Australia.
